I was a signalman on the Small from 1968-1971 (I think). I am in contact with a few people who served on the Small and exchange e-mail from time to time.

I am VERY happy to see this web site.

THANKS!!!

Glad you're here, John. We are trying to build our membership while the main site is under development. Although we try to add new, informative posts every day or so, the Forums will be sparse until other members drop their shyness and add their stories, memories, pictures and other content to the forums.

Once the main site is published, there will be a lot of new content, and we will add to it monthly. Originally, we planned on bringing the entire site up in the 4th quarter. We have had some good results in the web development recently and are now planning to bring the total site online in September.

You might let your other shipmates know about the site too. Our beginning email list had a lot of gaps and many email addresses were no longer valid. Our thinking is those people still have Web and Email access, but moved to another ISP and never updated their records online.

We look forward to seeing your posts.

Dennis,

I will be back in work on Monday and will share this web site with those who I am in contact. Also: I have an EXCEL spreadsheet with a bunch on Names and addresses of former shipmates.

Did you get the video from Doc Parsons?

Thanks for the site and forum!!!!!!

Hey, John Byrd. Doc Parsons had told me about this site but I just recently figured out how to log in and am still trying to learn to "navigate" it. I guess I need one of our Quartermaster shipmates from the Dirty Ernie's OC Division to "navigate" for me. Do you remember when you and I and a few others were part of the Ernest G. Small's Honor Guard and performed in Skipper Mann's leaving-the-ship ceremony? Do you remember the Small's very last ship's party held in Hawaii after we got back from the final WestPac deployment? Who was that other radioman (an RM3) that I punched out? He was a good guy but got on my bad side that night. I think it was over the honor of a female. ---Arnold Dyre, RM2

Dealing with this site is like being the last person left in the universe. Is anyone out there? --Arnold Dyre, former RM2, on Small 1968-1970.
